Keto Chili Cheese Dog

Keto Chili Cheese DogWhen you’re following the keto diet you can still enjoy the foods you love, you just need to tweak it a bit. That is why I love it so much! Every now and then I crave a chili cheese dog and needed to come up with a way that I can still have one without going out of ketosis. 

I made the bun using fathead dough recipe but you can do without if you rather have sugar-free hot dogs piled with chili cheese. I just made keto chili the other night so this was a perfect opportunity to try it out on this recipe. The results were good and everyone liked it. Now you can make it too. Enjoy!

Keto Chili Cheese Dog

Ingredients

Fathead Dough 

Sugar-free hot dogs (I used Nathan’s hot dogs)

Chili

Shredded or grated cheese

Directions

Make the fathead dough. (Recipe below)

Take a handful of dough and roll into a mini loaf that is big enough to be a hot dog bun.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and place mini loaves on top. 

Bake for 10 minutes.

Once the fathead dough is done, take out of oven and let cool.

Cook hot dogs on stovetop or microwave.

Once the fathead dough is cool, cut a slit going down the middle.

Add the hot dog, then the chili and melted shredded or grated cheese.

Fathead Dough Recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
2 large eggs
1/3 cup coconut flour
2 tbsp cream cheese, cut in cubes

Directions

Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Add mozzarella cheese and cream cheese in a bowl and microwave for 45 seconds. Stir. Put back in microwave for another 45 seconds.

Beat eggs and add to mozzarella and cream cheese plus add in coconut flour and mix.

Knead with hands until dough forms.

Take a handful of dough and roll into a mini loaf that is big enough to be a hot dog bun.

Lay a piece of parchment paper on a cookie sheet and place mini loaves on top. 

Bake for 10 minutes.
