    What You Will Need

    • Butter
    • Marshmallows
    • Vanilla
    • Green food gel
    • Cornflakes
    • Mini red M&M’s

    Recipe Variations

    • Use red hot candies in place of red M&M’s.
    • Get creative by making bows out of red licorice and placing them on the wreaths.
    • Can use mini marshmallows in place of large marshmallows. Use a 10.5 ounce bag if so.
    • If you want a more Christmassy flavor, add peppermint extract in place of vanilla extract.
    • If you want to omit the green food coloring, you could use the green colored marshmallows. The color will not be that vibrant if you do so but have a slight green color.

    How to Make Cornflake Wreaths

    1. Add cornflakes cereal to a large bowl and set aside.
    2. In a saucepan, melt butter and marshmallows over low heat stirring continuously until melted.
    3. Add in vanilla and green food gel and stir together.
    4. Remove from heat. Pour mixture over cornflakes and carefully mix until fully combined.
    5. Lay out wax paper on counter or table. Place a small amount of butter in a dish.
    6. Drop spoonfuls of cornflake mixture on wax paper. Dip fingertips into butter and shape into wreaths. Add red candies.
    7. Allow to harden and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.

    Yes, you can make the cornflake wreaths a day or two in advance. Just be sure to store them in an airtight container so they don’t get stale.

    Do I need to use green food coloring?

    No, you don’t need to use green food coloring if you don’t want to. You can use any color your want or leave them without a color. The wreaths will still look festive without it.

    Can I use a different type of cereal besides cornflakes?

    Yes, you can use a different type of cereal such as Cheerios, but the texture and taste will be different than what is traditionally used for this recipe.
