This Halloween, spook your guests with these Scream Jello Shots inspired by the movie. The blood splatter topping is sure to give everyone a fright!

    Scream jello shots

What’s your favorite scary movie? Is it Scream, Halloween, Friday the 13th? Horror movies are not usually my pick of choice but I’m a sucker for gory food.

From Jello Brain, Bloody Intestines or a Freddy Kreuger Cocktail is just a few of things I like to make and serve at a Halloween party.

If you’re hosting a horror movie theme party, these would be the perfect jello shots to serve. The blood splatter detail adds an extra level of gory to get everyone excited for a night of fun.

    Why Blood Splatter Jello Shots?

Blood Splatter Jello Shots are a unique way to experience horror. Made with royal icing and gelatin, these shots are a great addition to a Halloween party menu and delicious.

How do these Scream Jello Shots Taste?

These Jello shots have a grape flavor as they are made with grade Jello and grape vodka. You could use another flavor of Jello and add black food coloring to it also.

Why is Scream Movie so Popular?

For the horror movie fanatics, there is nothing like a good scary movie. From classics like Friday the 13th to newer in the genre, Scream movie is without a doubt one of the most popular films of all time. And for good reason: it’s full of scares, gore and suspense.

But why is this film so popular with horror fans? One big reason is that Scream takes classic horror tropes and throws in some unexpected twists that keep viewers on their toes. And we can’t forget about the cast featuring Neve Campbell (Sydney Prescott), Courteney Cox (Gale Weathers) and David Arquette (Dwight “Dewey” Riley) that helps make this movie so iconic.

    Blood Splatter Topping

    1. Using a standing mixer, beat egg white, cream of tartar, powdered sugar, and vanilla until combined and holds a soft peak, about 5 – 7 minutes. If too runny, beat in another ½ cup powdered sugar.
    2. Mix in 5-7 drops or more if needed of super red food coloring till it looks dark as blood.
    3. Beat in about 2 tablespoons of water to ‘thin’ the icing out and falls off a spoon like lava.
    4. For this messy part, cover the area with trash bags. Dip a fork into red icing and fling at the jello shots to create a blood splatter look. Be creative with your blood splatter!
    5. Once your shots are covered in blood, allow icing to dry, place them on a serving platter and enjoy!

    Recipe Tips

    • Can make these up in advance but leave off the topping until the day of serving.
    • Shorten the amount of time with less jello layers. Could do thicker layers instead for a different look.
    • Store leftovers in the fridge covered for up to 3 days.

How long does it take for Jello to set?

Usually about 30 minutes (possibly longer) in the fridge until firm. If doing layers you’ll want to make sure it is fully set so the layers don’t blend.

    Can you freeze Jello?

Technically no as it doesn’t freeze well, but you could set it in there for several minutes to speed up the process. Just make sure to not forget about it and transfer back to fridge.
