Ingredients
- Prime Rib Roast: 3-4 bone-in is what we used. Other sizes cook times may vary.
- Seasonings: garlic powder, onion powder, pepper, salt
- Will also need: Roasting rack and meat thermometer

How to Roast Prime Rib
Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator 1-2 hours before cooking to bring to room temperature. Place on roasting rack fat side up and season with all seasonings.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F and roast for 20 minutes. Reduce temperature to 300 degrees F and cook (about 20 minutes per pound) until internal temperature reaches 115 degrees for rare, 125 degrees for medium rare and 135 degrees for medium.
Remove from oven, tent with foil and let rest for 30 minutes before slicing.
How to Slice Prime Rib
- Let roast rest fully before slicing.
- Use a sharp carving knife.
- Slice against the grain into thick or thin slices depending on preference.
- Serve with au jus or horseradish sauce.
