Ever since I’ve started cooking my asparagus in the oven, I’ve never gone back to another method. This is so simple to do and the asparagus come out perfect every time. They can easily be cooked while you’re getting the rest of the dinner ready.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Tender stalks with crispy tips!
  • Easy and effortless!
  • A healthy side dish!
  • Takes minutes to make!

Recipe Variations

  • Try different seasonings such as red pepper flakes for a bit of spicy or Italian seasoning for a milder taste.
  • If you don’t have minced garlic you can use garlic powder.
  • Add bacon bits. Trust us on this one, it’s delicious.

What You’ll Need

  • Asparagus – Fresh and firm are best for this recipe. To check the firmness, find the asparagus with the tightly closed tips.
  • Parmesan Cheese – This is optional but does taste good with a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top, plus gives it a little bit more crisp to it.
  • Garlic – You can use minced garlic or garlic powder for this recipe.
  • Olive Oil – This helps coat the spears to get the seasoning to stick.
  • Kosher Salt – Add any amount to your liking. If you don’t have kosher salt you can use regular salt.
  • Pepper – Season to taste.
  • Lemon Juice – Fresh lemon juice is what we used but could also use bottled lemon juice.

How to Make Asparagus in the Oven

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Lay a piece of parchment paper down on a cookie sheet.
  3. Snap the ends off of each asparagus. To do so, bend the asparagus near the base. The asparagus will break off at the right spot.
  4. Arrange the asparagus stalks on top of the parchment paper in a single layer.
  5. Drizzle asparagus with olive oil. Season with kosher salt and pepper. Add minced garlic on top. Sprinkle cheese over top.
  6. Roast for 15-20 minutes for thick spears and 8-10 minutes for thin spears and until tender.
  7. Remove from oven, squeeze some fresh lemon juice over top and serve with your favorite main dish.
