Making your own tortilla chips tastes so much better and is healthier for you. You can add your own seasoning to your liking and make them as crispy as you want. If you don’t own a Ninja Foodi, now is the time to get one because it makes food tastes better and cooking effortless.
For this recipe I used low carb tortillas (mission carb balance or store brand) to make the tortilla chips. You’re probably wondering the following. Can you put tortillas in the air fryer? Yes, you can. It’s easy to do with just a little bit of olive oil, cut and cook and in about 10-12 minutes you have crispy tortilla chips.
How to Make Low Carb Tortilla Chips
To make low carb tortilla chips you need one package of low carb tortillas, olive oil, salt, pizza cutter, and air fryer. You can make these the night before if you’d like and store them in the fridge or make them the same day you’re going to eat them.
One by one brush both sides of the tortilla with olive oil and cut into triangles using the pizza cutter. Sprinkle with salt and place in an air fryer at 360 degrees F for 10-12 minutes flipping halfway through. I did 2 batches so the tortilla chips would cook more evenly.
That’s it! It’s truly that easy.

How do you keep them from flying around the air fryer and burning or hitting the fan?
GINA
I use one of the grates. I put on top to hold them down.
Alison
That’s a great idea.

Do you apply oil to both sides of the tortillas? Also, should you flip the triangles during the halfway point?
Cleo
Looks like the answer is yes to both. From text description of recipe above . . . “One by one brush both sides of the tortilla with olive oil and cut into triangles using the pizza cutter. Sprinkle with salt and place in an air fryer at 360 degrees F for 10-12 minutes flipping halfway through. I did 2 batches so the tortilla chips would cook more evenly”
Alison
Yes to both!

Have you ever used avocado oil for the chips?
Alison
I haven’t for the chips but have for when I cook salmon in the air fryer.
