This recipe for Philly Cheesesteak stuffed peppers is oh so good and it’s Keto friendly coming in at 10 grams of carb for one serving. The bell peppers are filled with goodness consisting of steak, mushrooms, sliced bell peppers and cheese along with a few other ingredients. I like to serve this with cauliflower rice and a green salad but you can choose whatever you want to serve with it. Enjoy!
Keto Philly Cheesesteak Stuffed Peppers
Yields: 8 servings
Ingredients
- 4 whole bell peppers
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 sirloin steak (about 1 inch thick)
- 1 8 oz. package of sliced mushrooms
- 1 sweet onion, sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded (substitute with your favorite cheese)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. While the oven is preheating, slice 4 bell peppers in half and remove the seeds and stems. Place the peppers in a 9×13” casserole dish and drizzle them with olive oil and sprinkle on salt and pepper and bake for 10 minutes.
During the time the peppers are baking, heat a large skillet on high heat. Pour a thin layer of olive oil in the pan – just enough to coat the bottom and generously salt and pepper both sides of the sirloin. Place it in the hot skillet for 1 minute on each side then remove it from the pan and place the steak on a cutting board.
Turn the heat down to medium for the same skillet and add the mushrooms and garlic. After 1 minute, add sliced onions and 1 sliced bell pepper (I used ½ of a red and ½ of a green bell pepper). Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
While mushroom and pepper mixture is cooking, slice the steak into the thin strips and discard any fat. Add the steak strips to the skillet and stir to combine.
Turn off the heat to the skillet and then spoon the steak and pepper into each cooked bell pepper half – filling until all halves are full and mixture is used up.
Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and place in the oven to bake for about 15 minutes. Remove from oven and serve warm.
Are bell peppers Keto approved?
Yes, bell peppers are Keto approved but in moderation. There is about 2 grams of carbs for a half cup of sliced bell peppers. In this recipe you need to consider that there is a half of a bell pepper and then you have additional sliced bell peppers for the inside. The total for everything in this recipe is about 10 grams of carbs for one bell pepper with the filling.

These look so good! I have a lot of pepper plants planted this year so I think I will try these when some of my peppers are ready. I have a big variety this year so this will be a treat! It is a different twist on two favorites in our household – everybody here really enjoys cheesesteaks and stuffed peppers.
