What to Put on a Halloween Charcuterie Board

When it comes to creating a Halloween charcuterie board, the possibilities are endless! Here are some ideas on what to put on your Halloween-themed charcuterie board and what I used.

Meats: Start by selecting an assortment of cured meats such as salami, prosciutto, and pepperoni. These savory options will provide a nice balance to the sweeter items on your board. Here is what I used:

    • Prosciutto for the creepy Halloween hand appetizer and eyeballs.
    • Pepperoni for the rollups.

Cheeses: Next, add some cheeses to complement the meats. Choose a mix of hard and soft cheeses like cheddar, gouda, brie, or blue cheese. Feel free to get creative with flavors and textures! Here is what I used:

    • Mozzarella for the creepy Halloween hand appetizer and pepperoni roll ups.
    • Colby Jack
    • Cheddar

Fresh and Dried Fruit: To keep things festive and seasonal, include some autumn-inspired fruits like crisp apples or juicy pears. You can also incorporate dried fruits such as figs or cranberries for added sweetness. Here is what I used:

    • Black Seedless Grapes
    • Stuffed Olives

Assortment of Crackers: Don’t forget about the crackers and bread! Offer a selection of crunchy crackers in different shapes and sizes. Sliced baguette or crostini is also a great addition for those who prefer bread with their charcuterie. Here is what I used:

    • Multigrain
    • Sesame Wheat
    • Halloween Tortilla Chips

Spooky Extras: No Halloween-themed charcuterie board would be complete without some creepy extras. Here is what I used:

    • Salsa

Remember to play around with placement and arrangement on your charcuterie board – aim for an aesthetically pleasing display that invites guests to dig in!

Now that you have some inspiration for what to put on your Halloween charcuterie board, it’s time to get creative and start building your board!

How to Make a Halloween Charcuterie Board

Start with your focal point for the board and place in the center of the board. We added the creepy Halloween prosciutto and mozzarella hand with crackers as the center point.

Then, add the remaining ingredients throughout the board using small bowls for some ingredients like dips and such if needed.

Fill in any gaps with grapes, olives, cheeses, nuts, etc.

    Helpful Tips and Variations

    • Don’t be afraid to mix sweet and savory items on the board to give it balance.
    • Add different textures and visual interest to the board with different colors for the theme.
    • Get creative with shapes by using Halloween cookie cutters to create fun and festive shapes out of cheeses and deli meats.
    • Consider dietary restrictions when planning your board such as gluten free or vegan options.
    • Pair the board with wine for a delicious flavor combination.
    • Include serving utensils such as tongs, spoons or toothpicks for easy grab and go.

    FAQs

Can I make this Halloween charcuterie board ahead of time?

To keep everything fresh, it would be best to make the day of the party. You could get some things started such as washing the fruits, cutting up anything that needs cut and setting out the non-perishable ingredients so they are ready to go.

How long can I keep a charcuterie board out at my party?

It’s best to not leave it out for more than two hours at room temperature. If you need to keep it out longer you can use ice pack or refrigerate between servings.
