31 Days to Declutter Your Home & Live Life Simply: Emails
Do you find that every time you open you email account you see tons of emails that have not been answered or have been but still sitting there? Yes, that is my problem. I always browse thru the emails and find the important ones to read and respond to and then ignore the rest. Pretty soon I have almost 1,000 emails to get thru. Yikes!
There are some simple tasks you can do to stop that clutter in your inbox.
- Unsubscribe to lists you no longer wish to be on. This usually only takes a couple of clicks to get off the list for good.
- Take 20 minutes each day to go thru emails rather they are important or not.
- Create folders to store emails that you need to keep. I created labels called important information, kids school info, need to respond to, and vacation info. You can call the labels anything you want and then move the emails to that folder to organize them.
Today I had over 600 emails to go thru. I took out some time and did the simple tasks listed above. I did spend over the 20 minutes doing it but I wanted to get it completed. It took me about 40 minutes to go thru them all.
I finally narrowed it down to 24 emails that I kept unread as they were reminders of upcoming events that I knew to go back and check.
