Everyone has their New Year traditions depending on their roots. Being from Ohio and a Polish background, we always rang in the New Year with pork and sauerkraut for good luck.
There are many ways to make pork and sauerkraut from the crockpot, stove and oven. Depending on how much time you have one of these methods will work for you.
Slow cooker method is always easy for me cause New Year’s Day is when I take down all the Christmas decorations and tidy up the house. I love that the Crock Pot does all the work while I do other things.

How to Make Pork & Sauerkraut
Step One: Rinse and pat the meat dry.
Step Two: Place the pork roast in the bottom of the slow cooker.
Step Three: Top the pork with the sauerkraut, onion, salt and pepper.
Step Four: In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar apple juice. Pour the mixture over the pork and sauerkraut.
Step Five: Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 4-6 hours or low for 8-10 hours, or until the pork is tender and falls apart easily.
Step Six: Use two forks to shred the pork and mix it with the sauerkraut.
Step Seven: Serve the pork and sauerkraut over mashed potatoes or noodles and enjoy!
