Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl

If you’re craving Chinese food this Egg Roll in a Bowl is the dish to make. And it’s Keto approved coming in at 3 carbs per serving. In 15 minutes you can have a delicious meal ready for the family and it’s an easy clean up with only one pan to dirty. Now that’s a win!!

What is inside of an egg roll?

When I would order Chinese food, I would always tear apart the egg rolls because I was curious as to what was inside. The inside of an egg roll consists of either pork, chicken or shrimp along with cabbage, soy sauce and other spices and seasonings.

Keto Egg Roll in a Bowl

Serves 4

Ingredients

1 lb Ground Pork
1 bag Broccoli Slaw
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
3 tbsp Chicken Broth
3 tsp Minced Garlic
1 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
2 tsp Sesame Oil
Pinch of Sesame Seeds
Green Onion for Topping
6 tsp Hot Sauce

Directions

Heat a pan on medium heat and add the pork and sautee. After the pork has sauteed add the chicken broth and soy sauce while the pork is cooking and stir for 1-2 mins. Then add garlic, ginger, hot sauce, and stir for 1-2 mins or until the pork is cooked.

When the pork is cooked to your liking add the cabbage and only 2 tsp of the sesame oil and turn down the heat to low. Stir and cook to soften the cabbage to how you want it.

You can add more sesame oil, soy sauce and hot sauce to the dish if you want to your liking. Add a pinch of sesame seeds and top with green onions.

Serve immediately in a bowl with chopsticks.

Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Ground Pork
  • 1 bag Broccoli Slaw

Can you freeze the egg roll filling?

Yes, you can! You could make a batch of this ahead of time and store in a an air tight container in the freezer for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat, thaw out in the fridge overnight and reheat in the microwave.

What kind of meat can you use for Egg Roll in a Bowl recipe? 

For this recipe I used ground pork but you can also use chicken, shrimp, pork loin, ground turkey and even beef if you wanted to.
