You can also add in some other toppings like cucumber, sesame seeds, or scallions for extra flavor.

It’s a fun and easy way to eat sushi without having to go out for it. Just roll everything up, pair it with your favorite sauce and enjoy!

Does sushi have to be raw fish?

No, there are a lot of items on the menu that come with cooked meats. You will find some recipes fry or even use pre-cooked seafood. I used imitation crab meat which is cooked already.

    Topping Ideas for Sushi

Did you know there are so many topping ideas for your sushi. I will share a few ideas for you to consider to create more layers of flavor in this homemade sushi.

    • Sesame Seeds
    • Green Onions
    • Crushed Nuts
    • Wasabi
    • Yum Yum Sauce

    Where to find seaweed wraps?

You will most generally find the seaweed wraps in the international aisle at the grocery store. Now if you are in a specialty store you will find it might be placed in another area.

Is sushi rice different than white rice?

Yes, sushi rice is going to create a really starchy and soft rice. This rice when pressed into a sushi roll holds shape and will not fall apart. Where white rice isn’t as starchy so it can crumble and not stick together.

Tips for Making Homemade Sushi Rolls

    • Use the Juilenne technique for your vegetables if you plan to add some into your sushi.
    • Use plastic wrap on top of the sushi mat to help prevent things from falling apart and making a mess.
    • Swap out the crab with salmon, shrimp, etc.
    • Don’t overstuff the sushi rolls, or it will make a mess when you go to roll up the sushi.
    • Use a sharp knife to cut your rolls. This will help prevent them from falling apart and ensure neat, clean slices.

    Storing Leftovers

If you happen to not eat all the sushi right away, no worries. Store your sushi in the fridge in an airtight container. Then when you want some, remove and eat. The sushi will store for just a couple of days before going bad.

With the ingredients in the sushi crab rolls you will find you can not freeze. It would alter the texture of the food tremendously. Only make what you plan to eat.

    What to Serve with Sushi

When it comes to sushi, there are endless possibilities for what to pair with it. Whether you’re looking for something to drink or something to eat, we’ve got you covered.

If you’re looking for a refreshing drink to pair with your sushi, try pairing it with sake. Sake is a Japanese rice wine that is often served with sushi. It’s light and crisp flavor pairs well with the freshness of sushi. If you’re not a fan of sake, try pairing your sushi with green tea. The mellow flavor of green tea goes well with the delicate flavors of sushi.

If you’re looking for something to eat with your sushi, try pairing it with miso soup. The salty flavor of miso soup compliments the flavors of sushi perfectly.

Another great option is edamame. These soybeans are often steamed and served with salt. They make for a great snack or side dish and are a good source of protein. Edamame is also a good choice if you’re looking for something light to eat with your sushi.

If you’re in the mood for a light, refreshing salad, a ramen noodle salad is the perfect pairing to your sushi roll. The key to this salad is to let the noodles soak up all of the dressing so they’re nice and flavorful. Once they’re fully coated, add in your favorite veggies and you’re good to go!
