This Homemade Vinaigrette Dressing recipe is a simple and versatile dressing that can be used on a variety of salads and more. It is made with basic pantry ingredients and can be customized to suit your taste preferences.
Vinaigrette dressing is a classic dressing made by combining oil and vinegar but this recipe includes a few additional ingredients of mustard, garlic and seasonings to add flavor and balance.
It is a light and refreshing dressing that is perfect for dressing up any salad and is a healthier alternative to store-bought dressings as it does not contain any preservatives or additives.
This homemade dressing goes great with my apple feta salad or you can use it on any of your favorite salads. It’s also perfect for marinating chicken or vegetables before grilling.

Vinaigrette Dressing Ingredients & Substitutions
- Olive oil: I recommend using extra virgin olive oil but you can use other oils such as avocado oil, walnut oil, sesame oil or canola oil.
- Vinegar: I used white wine vinegar but you can also use other types of vinegar such as red wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar.
- Stone ground mustard: This adds a tangy kick to the dressing. If you don’t have stone ground mustard, you can use Dijon mustard.
- Minced garlic: Fresh minced garlic adds a strong garlic flavor to the dressing. If you don’t have fresh garlic, you can use garlic powder.
- Seasonings: Dried oregano, dried parsley, onion powder black pepper and salt.
