Get a taste of paradise with a Miami Vice Drink, a heavenly blend of pineapple and strawberry that will refresh and transport you to a tropical oasis.

    Miami Vice drink

Nothing beats sipping on a Miami Vice cocktail while lounging by the pool on a lazy day. Not only is this fruity concoction delicious, but it’s also incredibly refreshing and perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. Plus, its layered appearance makes for a gorgeous-looking drink.

If you’ve never had a Miami Vice before, you’re missing out on a match made in heaven – the combination of pineapple and strawberry is simply divine.

I discovered this heavenly cocktail when I was in Florida, at a hotel with an outdoor bar serving up a range of frozen cocktails.

After trying a sip of my friend’s Miami Vice, I knew it was the drink of choice for me for the rest of the trip, and I made sure to learn how to make it at home once I returned.

After a few attempts, I finally mastered the recipe, and now I can enjoy a Miami Vice any time I want, whether it’s a lazy day by the pool or just relaxing at home.

For those who are fans of frozen drinks, I highly recommend trying my frozen Bahama Mama. This fruity blend is packed with flavors that will make your taste buds dance with joy.

    What is a Miami Vice?

The Miami Vice cocktail was not actually named after the popular 80s television series. It was actually created in Miami by combining the two most popular drinks, resulting in a heavenly combination that we now know as the Miami Vice.

    What You Need

    • Pineapple Juice
    • Coconut Milk: Can swap for cream of coconut.
    • White Rum
    • Strawberries: Frozen or fresh strawberries can be used.
    • Simple Syrup
    • Lime Juice
    • Ice Cubes

    Recipe Variations

    • Make it a virgin miami vice by leaving out the rum.
    • Save time by making it with ready-made mixes of frozen strawberry daiquiri and frozen pina colada.
    • Don’t have rum? Swap it for vodka.
    • Change the flavor by swapping strawberries for different kinds of fresh fruit such as peach, mango or raspberries.
    • Want it less sweet? Leave out the simple syrup.
    • Want a more tropical drink? Add a ripe banana to the mixture.

How to Make a Miami Vice

Step 1 – Make the Strawberry Daiquiri. Rinse out the blender. Add ice, strawberries, lime juice, white rum, simple syrup to the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into another glass and set in freezer.

Step 2 – Make the Pina Colada. Add ice pineapple juice, coconut milk and white rum to a blender and blend until smooth.

Step 3 – Layer cocktail. To get the layered effect, pour a layer of strawberry mixture in the bottom of a hurricane glass. Pour in Pina colada mix on top of the strawberry daiquiri mix. Then, top with a layer of daiquiri.

Step 4 – Garnish. Add a pineapple wedge and strawberry to the glass plus straw (optional; cocktail pick and umbrella) and enjoy. Cheers.

    Recipe Tips

    • Serve immediately to prevent from melting.
    • For a stronger drink, increase the amount of rum.
    • For a more sweeter drink, add more simple syrup.
    • If you don’t have a hurricane glass, you can use any kind of tall glass.

    FAQs

Can I make a big batch of this drink?

Yes, you can make a large batch of Miami Vice drink by multiplying the recipe ingredients by the number of servings you need.

How do I store leftover Miami Vice drink?

If you have any leftover you can put in the freezer but the texture will be slightly different once it thaws a bit. For the best tasting frozen cocktail, I would suggest drinking right after being made.

Should I use fresh or frozen strawberries?

You can use either or for this recipe. If using fresh strawberries, you may need to add a handful of ice more to the recipe to get it to the right consistency.
