The Miami Vice cocktail was not actually named after the popular 80s television series. It was actually created in Miami by combining the two most popular drinks, resulting in a heavenly combination that we now know as the Miami Vice.
What You Need
- Pineapple Juice
- Coconut Milk: Can swap for cream of coconut.
- White Rum
- Strawberries: Frozen or fresh strawberries can be used.
- Simple Syrup
- Lime Juice
- Ice Cubes
Recipe Variations
- Make it a virgin miami vice by leaving out the rum.
- Save time by making it with ready-made mixes of frozen strawberry daiquiri and frozen pina colada.
- Don’t have rum? Swap it for vodka.
- Change the flavor by swapping strawberries for different kinds of fresh fruit such as peach, mango or raspberries.
- Want it less sweet? Leave out the simple syrup.

How to Make a Miami Vice
Step 1 – Make the Strawberry Daiquiri. Rinse out the blender. Add ice, strawberries, lime juice, white rum, simple syrup to the blender and blend until smooth. Pour into another glass and set in freezer.
Step 2 – Make the Pina Colada. Add ice pineapple juice, coconut milk and white rum to a blender and blend until smooth.
Step 3 – Layer cocktail. To get the layered effect, pour a layer of strawberry mixture in the bottom of a hurricane glass. Pour in Pina colada mix on top of the strawberry daiquiri mix. Then, top with a layer of daiquiri.
Step 4 – Garnish. Add a pineapple wedge and strawberry to the glass plus straw (optional; cocktail pick and umbrella) and enjoy. Cheers.
