Some days are busier and longer than others and just don’t have the time to think about what I’m going to eat. Grab and go convenient snacks are best for these types of situations so you can stay within your macros and in ketosis. When you’re on the run and don’t have time to eat or don’t have a cooler on hand these keto snacks are just what you need.
Lenny & Larry’s Keto Cookie™
When you want something sweet try this plant based Lenny & Larry’s keto cookie. It is only 3g net carbs, 8g of protein, 5g of fiber, grain and gluten free, non GMO project verified. They come individually wrapped making it convenient to grab one and put in your bag for when you’re on the run.
There’s so much to love about this cookie as it has no soy ingredients, dairy ingredients, egg, high fructose corn syrup, or artificial sweeteners so you know it’s good for you. The taste is delicious without the guilt and comes in Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chip & Coconut flavors so you have plenty on hand for those extra busy days.
Mixed Nuts
You can buy a can of mixed nuts in the store or make your own bags of mixed nuts. The best nuts for a keto diet that are lower in carbs are pecans, macadamia, almonds, and walnuts. Be sure to limit the amount of nuts that you eat can they can add up in carbs fast.
Beef Jerky
This is a good way to get some protein but can be tricky as some are high in carbs, have sugar and other added ingredients you should not have. Make sure to double check these before you indulge. It would be best to find the ones that have zero sugar or make your own beef jerky.
Pork Rinds
When you have a crunchy or salty craving, pork rinds do the trick and they are zero carbs. They even come in a variety of flavors if you don’t want plain ones such as salt and vinegar (my favorite), hot n spicy and BBQ to name a few. This is one snack you can indulge a little more than any other keto snack.
Protein Bars
There are a large variety of protein bars to choose from and so many flavors but finding a keto approved one can be a challenge. Be careful of the ones that have hidden carbs and added sugars. These are a no no on the ketogenic diet. Instead look for ones that are made with whole food ingredients and healthy fats rather than the ones that have preservatives and artificial sweeteners.
Dark Chocolate
Yes, you can still have chocolate when following keto but make sure the dark chocolate is 80% cocoa or higher and check the carbs before consuming. Dark chocolate is higher in fat than carbs and have a great source of antioxidants. So go ahead and enjoy those sweets!
Cheese Crisps
These low carbs snacks are easy to make with just one ingredient of cheese and baking it till crisp. Or you can purchase a variety of flavors from the store. But be careful of the ones from the stores as I have seen some with bad ingredients and not keto friendly. You are probably better making your own and keeping it low in carbs.
Larry and Lenny’s Keto Cookie can be found at Walmart, Sprouts or Whole Foods. What are your go to keto snacks?
