These Loaded Italian Sausages are the perfect low carb meal topped with bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and mozzarella cheese for a mouthwatering taste!

    Loaded Italian Sausages

I never thought this would be the year I am using my grill so much but I’m not mad about it. I’ve made so many delicious food such as these loaded bacon burgers and also this smoked queso dip. My husband is loving his role as a taste tester trying all these new recipes out even though it may take a few tries.

With so much time at home and no place to go I’ve racked up quite a bit of time on the app TikTok. One day as I was scrolling through the app I came across this girl named Jackie where she made these loaded Italian sausage on her Blackstone grill and being that I’m following a low carb diet, I had to try it.

I don’t have a Blackstone grill, yet, but had a flat top accessory that goes on top on our grill. We made our own version of the recipe and it turned out delicious. There are a ton of varieties you can do with this recipe and make it your own. I plan on experimenting more with it and trying different combinations. I think this recipe would be great for a cookout or even a football party.

    Recipe Variations and Tips

    • Can substitute Italian sausages for brats or kielbasa.
    • Prepare this dish ahead of time by chopping up all the vegetables the night before and store in the fridge.
    • If you don’t have a flat top grill you can cook in a skillet.

    Loaded Italian Sausage Ingredients

5 Italian sausages (mild, sweet, hot or whatever you prefer)
    6 oz. Mozzarella cheese
    4 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
    ½ stick butter
    8 oz. sliced mushrooms
½ of each bell pepper, sliced (green, red, orange, yellow)
    ½ large onion
    Olive oil
    Salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Loaded Italian Sausages

Heat up a flat top grill to 300 degrees. Lightly oil the flat top grill and sauté the mushrooms, bell peppers and onions with butter, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper.

Butterfly the Italian sausages. Place the Italian sausages on the flat top grill and cook until no longer pink on both sides flipping halfway.

Once cooked, line up the Italian sausages and place the sautéd mushrooms, bell peppers and onions on top of them and top with mozzarella cheese. Place a cover over top or shut the grill till the cheese is melted.

Remove from grill and eat as is or put on a low carb bun. Enjoy!
