These Loaded Beer Can Bacon Burgers are a summertime must! They are stuffed full of delicious veggies and wrapped in bacon for a mouth-watering taste!
Summer screams being outdoors and grilling. While there are so many ways you can cook a burger, these loaded beer can bacon burgers are filled to the brim with so much flavor. The possibilities are endless with what you can put in them so you can truly make it your own.
This recipe calls for a different way you would normally cook a burger on the grill. Since you won’t be able to flip the burgers, you will need to cook them on indirect heat meaning you have to fire up half of the grill by placing charcoals on one side and cooking the burgers on the other half. This will ensure that the entire burger will be cooked evenly.
For the charcoal grill I like to use Match Light Kingsford Charcoal as it delivers flavors in the burgers for the ultimate outdoor cooking experience. You can find it at Walmart, the most convenient place of all using their grocery pick up. Just place an order online, choose a time and pick up. So simple and easy! Ingredients
Makes 6 burgers
3-4 lbs 80/20 ground beef
1 unopened beer can
6 pieces of uncooked bacon
8 oz fresh sliced mushrooms
Half onion, diced
Red pepper, diced
Green pepper, diced
Sliced cheese (I used Provolone, Pepper Jack & Colby but any kind will work)
Ground beef seasoning to taste
Jalapeños, sliced (optional)
How to Make Beer Can Bacon Burgers
Fire up half of the grill by adding charcoal to one side only and preheat to 300 degrees F. Leave the other side off for indirect heat.
Sautéed mushrooms, onions, red peppers and green peppers until soft. Set aside.
Wash the beer can in hot soapy water to kill any germs or bacteria. Form ground beef into 6 large balls using about ¾ lb of ground beef to make each burger.
Press the clean, unopened beer can into the center of the meat ball to form a bowl deep enough so you can add the fillings inside.
Wrap a slice of bacon around outer edge of burger bowl while the can is still in the burger. Gently slide out the can and mend any broken pieces together. Repeat with the remaining burgers.
Season the burger bowls on the inside and bottom and fill with sautéed mushrooms, onions, red peppers and green peppers. Can also add sliced jalapeños on top if you want.
Close grill and cook for 1 hour at 300 degrees F on indirect heat.
After the hour of cooking, place a slice of cheese over top of each burger and allow to melt for about 3-5 minutes.
Serve immediately plain, with toppings or on a bun.
