These Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Spice Donuts are a warm spicy goodness, infused in a cake donut and dipped in cinnamon sugar making it a perfect treat with a hot beverage on cold nights!

Air Fryer Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Spice Donuts

As if you thought I was done with the pumpkin content, I keep pumping it out because you can never have enough pumpkin candles, pumpkin spice lattes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin spice cookies or anything pumpkin during fall season.

Why We Love Pumpkin Spice Donuts

These sugar pumpkin spice doughnuts are done in the air fryer, so no frying in oil making them less in fat and calories and a tad bid healthier. Yay for that! I used my favorite Ninja Foodi air fryer because it’s my fav but you can use any air fryer that you already have.

We usually make these on the weekends when everyone is home. It’s a great way to get the whole family together and chat over breakfast. These donuts are light, fluffy, and topped with delicious cinnamon sugar that everyone loves. And they make your house smell amazing! Enjoy!

    Baking Tips

    • If you find the donuts sticking to the bottom of the air fryer, line your air fryer with parchment paper or spray with non-stick cooking spray to prevent from sticking.
    • If the batter becomes too sticky, dust your hands with flour.
    • Place the donuts in a single layer in the air fryer basket to make sure they cook evenly. The amount you can fit in the basket will depend on your air fryer.
    • Don’t overbake the donuts or they will be dry inside.

    Tools Used for this Recipe

    • Rolling Pin – any rolling pin will work for this recipe. To prevent the dough from sticking, lightly dust the rolling pin.
    • Cookie or Donut Cutter – for this recipe you will need a 3 inch and 1 inch cookie or donut cutter to make the donuts and donut holes. A donut cutter is easier to work with because it cuts both donuts at once but either will work.
    • Pastry Brush – used to brush the melted butter over the donuts to help secure the sugar topping.
    • Air Fryer – any air fryer will work for this recipe and will depend on what size, brand and style you want. My favorite air fryer is the Ninja Foodi because it’s like 9 appliances in one and you can lift the lid during cooking to check on the food without it resetting.

    Pumpkin Spice Donuts Ingredients

Makes 6 donuts and 6 holes

    ¼ cup Granulated white sugar
    ¼ cup Brown sugar
2 ½ tbsp butter (room temperature)
    2 lg Egg yolks
    2 ¼ cup All-purpose flour
    1 ½ tsp Baking powder
    1 tsp Pumpkin spice
    1 ½ tsp Cinnamon
    ¾ cup Sour cream
    ½ cup granulated white sugar
    2 tbsp butter (melted)

How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Spice Donuts in the Air Fryer

Mix together ½ cup white sugar and butter together in a medium bowl until it becomes crumbly. Add the 2 large egg yolks and stir until combined.

Add flour, baking powder and salt into a separate bowl. Add ⅓ of the flour mixture, ¼ cup of brown sugar and ½ the sour cream into the sugar-egg mix and stir until these are combined together. Mix in the remaining flour and sour cream; then refrigerate dough until ready for use.

Mix 1 tsp pumpkin spice, 2 ½ tsp white sugar, and 1 ½ tsp cinnamon together in a bowl. Preheat air fryer to 350°.

Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about ¾″ thick. Using a 3- inch and a 1- inch cookie cutter, cut 6 large circles in the dough and then cut holes in the middle of each to form the doughnut shapes. Or, if you have a donut cutter, you will be able to cut the donut and hole at the same time.

    Pumpkin Spice Donuts

Brush half of the melted butter over each side of the doughnuts.

Place half of the doughnuts into the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 8 minutes. Remove the doughnuts from the fryer and brush cooked donuts with remaining melted butter and immediately dip into the cinnamon/pumpkin spice/sugar mix.

Repeat these steps with the remaining doughnuts. You may need to adjust cooking times according to your particular air fryer. Enjoy while warm!
