Learn how to make a Candy Lei with this easy step-by-step tutorial. It’s perfect for graduation, birthdays or school celebrations.

With graduation around the corner, a candy lei for graduation is a fun and creative way to celebrate the special occasion.
What is a Candy Lei?
It’s similar to the traditional Hawaiian flower lei that symbolizes honor and the spirit of aloha, but made with candy instead for an edible gift.
You can easily make one at home inexpensively with a few supplies and the recipient’s favorite candy. I grabbed everything I needed at the dollar store for around $10. I love how it turned out and you can customize it so many different ways using school colors, adding money to it and more.

Materials Needed
- Clear Plastic Wrap: Or you can use clear poly tubing for an easier option.
- Ribbon: I got the pre-curled ribbon to save time, but regular ribbon works too.
- Candy: Use miniature candy bars or individually wrapped candies.
- Scissors: For cutting ribbon and plastic wrap.
- Tape (optional): Helpful for holding the plastic wrap in place while assembling.
How to Make a Candy Lei
Lay out a long strip of plastic wrap about 50 inches long or longer depending on the length you want your lei.

Place the candy bars down the center of the plastic wrap, leaving about an inch space between each candy.
Fold one side of the plastic wrap up so it lines up evenly with the candy.

Continue rolling the plastic wrap around the candy until it is completely wrapped.

Cut several pieces of ribbon and tightly tie one piece between each candy to secure them in place and create the lei look.
Once all the candy is secured, tie the two ends of the lei together using more ribbon.
Fluff the candy pieces, curl the ribbon if needed, and your candy lei is ready to gift!
