This meal is perfect for those times when you’re not in the mood for a trip to the store, want to use up what’s on hand, and prefer not to spend hours in the kitchen. Just grab some sloppy joe ingredients along with Texas toast and a side dish, and you’re all set for dinner.

As I prepared it, I wasn’t entirely sure if my family would enjoy it, but it turned out to be a big hit, and they’re already asking me to make it again. It’s amazing how something so simple can taste so delicious.

Plus, the beauty of this dish is that you can easily tailor it to your family’s preferences. You can switch out the meat, adjust the toppings, or even make it gluten-free if needed.

With its basic ingredients, these open-faced sloppy joes are not only a breeze to prepare but also lead to minimal cleanup. And they taste just as good the next day as leftovers for lunch!

    FAQs

Can I use a different type of bread?

Absolutely! Another option would be a loaf of garlic bread or Italian bread.

Can I make Texas toast sloppy joes ahead of time?

Yes and no. I would suggest making the meat mixture ahead of time and then baking and assembling the day of serving to prevent from getting soggy.

    Can I freeze leftovers?

Definitely! We do not recommend freezing these with the garlic bread. Freeze only the meat mixture allowing to cool and in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw out in fridge overnight and reheat in microwave to desired temperature.
