Taco Bell Quesarito on a plate

My family is always craving Taco Bell but I never want to pay those hefty prices fast food drive thru prices. Instead, we make copycat recipes at home at least once a week to satisfy the craving and save money at the same time.

I’ve made other Taco Bell inspired recipes, like a Crunchwrap Supreme, but this Quesarito disappeared even faster. And since it seems to come and go on the menu without warning, this is the perfect recipe to save and make anytime the craving hits.

If you love having Mexican night at home, be sure to also try my sheet pan tacos or fresh peach salsa.

    What’s In a Quesarito?

    • Flour tortillas: I use the burrito size
    • Shredded cheese: I use the Mexican cheese blend but you can also use a taco blend.
    • Ground beef: any lean ground beef
    • Taco seasoning: homemade or packet
    • Chipotle sauce: I used Taco Bell premade sauce from the sauce but you can make your own.
    • Spanish rice: I used the microwave pouch to save on time but you can make your own.
    • Will also need: water, nacho cheese sauce, sour cream and olive oil

How to Make a Beef Quesarito

    1. In a skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until fully browned. Drain excess grease. Stir in the taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.

    2. Heat the Spanish rice according to package directions.

    3. Spread a layer of nacho cheese over one tortilla, leaving about a one inch border around the edges. Sprinkle shredded cheese over half of the nacho cheese.

    4. Place a second tortilla on top. Spoon the taco meat and Spanish rice in the center.

    5. Drizzle the chipotle sauce and add a dollop of sour cream on top.

    6. Fold in sides and roll up tightly like a burrito.

    7. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook each burrito 1-2 minutes per side, until golden and crispy.

    8. Slice in half and serve warm!

    Helpful Tips and Variations

    • Use ground turkey, ground chicken or steak instead of ground beef.
    • Add black beans or refried beans for extra protein.
    • Add jalapenos or hot sauce for some heat.
    • Swap Spanish rice for cilantro lime rice for a different flavor.
    • Warm tortillas before preparing to prevent tearing.
    • Don’t overfill or they’ll be hard to roll and may fall apart.
    • Use freshly shredded cheese for better flavor and easy to melt.

    How to Store Leftovers

Wrap leftover Quesaritos tightly in foil and store in fridge for up to 3 days. Remove foil and reheat in skillet, air fryer or microwave to desired heat.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    Can I freeze Quesaritos?

Absolutely! Wrap each one tightly in foil and freeze up to 2 months. Thaw overnight in fridge before reheating.

Can I make this in the air fryer?

Yes! Place the assembled Quesarito seam-side down in the air fryer at 375 degrees F for 4-6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy.
