    This recipe is a twist on the classic party mix, made with Chex cereal, pretzels, and crackers. I omitted the nuts due to a peanut allergy in the family but optional to add in if you’d like.

    The best part about this recipe is that it only takes a few minutes to prepare, and then your slow cooker does all the work. Just set it and forget it!

    What You Need

    • Chex cereal – you will use a variety for this recipe; rice, corn and wheat.
    • Pretzels – can use any kind of pretzels you’d like.
    • Bugles – can substitute for bagel chips if you’d prefer.
    • Cheddar crackers – I used the turtles from Aldi but you could use Cheez-Its or any other type of baked cheddar cracker.
    • Seasonings – butter, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and seasoned salt.
    • Crock Pot– make sure it’s large enough to fit everything in it.

    Recipe Variations

    • Add in some nuts for extra crunch. Almonds, peanuts, and cashews would all be great choices.
    • Mix in some dried fruit for sweetness such as cranberries, raisins, and chopped apricots.
    • For a little bit of spice, you could add in a teaspoon or two of chili powder or cayenne pepper.
    • For a honey sriracha flavor, drizzle honey and sriracha sauce over the finished mix for a sweet and spicy snack.
    • Make it gluten free by using gluten free rice Chex cereal and other mix ins such as popcorn, Cheetos, etc.

    How to Make Chex Mix in the Slow Cooker

    1. Add Chex cereal, pretzels, Bugles and cheddar crackers to your slow cooker.
    2. In a bowl melt butter and add the seasonings; Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder and seasoned salt. Mix together.
    3. Pour mixture over evenly over the cereal mix and lightly stir together.
    4. Cook on low for 3 hours stirring every 30 minutes.
    5. When done cooking, dump onto a lined baking sheet and allow to cool.
    6. Transfer to an airtight container and enjoy.

    How to Store Chex Mix

    • To Store: Place in an airtight or resealable bag at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
    • To Freeze: Place in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 months.

    Absolutely! Chex Mix can be made 2-3 days ahead of time. Just prepare per instructions and store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

    Can I use a different type of cereal in this recipe?

    Yes! You can use different kinds of Chex cereal or even Cheerios in this recipe.

    I don’t have any pretzels on hand. Can I leave them out?

    The pretzels add a nice crunch to the mix, but you can definitely leave them out if you don’t have any on hand. Just substitute with an extra cup of one of the other ingredients.

    Ingredients
      

    • 3 cups Rice Chex cereal
    • 3 cups Corn Chex cereal
    • 3 cups Wheat Chex cereal
    • 1 cup pretzel sticks
    • 1 cup Bugles
    • 1 cup turtles baked cheddar snack crackers
    • 6 tablespoons butter melted
    • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
    • ½ teaspoon onion powder
    • ¾ teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1 ½ teaspoon seasoned salt

    Instructions
     

    • Add Chex cereal, pretzels, Bugles and cheddar crackers to your slow cooker.
