Whether it’s a rainy day or if you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids, this rainbow edible necklace craft is so easy and fun to make. It’s also too cute to eat but is, in fact, edible and made out of fruit cereal and marshmallows. We just used basic string for this craft but if you wanted to, you could use a sturdier string found at a craft store.
These rainbow edible necklaces are not only a fun craft to make with the kids but could also be bagged up and handed out at classroom parties, party favors, or even a craft to do at a birthday party. It’s also great for teaching the kids to color sort as they go. Learn how to make it with the instructions below.
Rainbow Edible Necklace
Supplies
- Fruity cereal (I used Fruit Loops)
- Marshmallows
- Yarn or string
- Plastic yarn needle
Instructions
Cut the length of yarn or string to fit around your child's head.
Run one end of the string through the eye of a plastic needle.
Sort the fruity cereal into smaller piles by color.
Thread a marshmallow onto the string slightly further than halfway onto the string.
Thread four pieces of purple fruit cereal onto the string, followed by four pieces of blue cereal,
four pieces of green cereal, four pieces of yellow cereal, four pieces of orange cereal, and four
pieces of red cereal.
Finish the necklace by stringing another marshmallow on the end of the cereal sequence.
Tie a knot at the end of the string to secure the necklace and wear around your child’s neck.
