Can you freeze homemade bread?

Yes, you can freeze homemade bread. It actually freezes quite well. To do so, allow the loaf of bread to cool completely. Then wrap the loaf of bread in foil and place it in a freezer bag making sure all of the air is out. You can freeze the bread for up to 3 months. When you want to eat it, take it out of the freezer and let thaw on counter for 3 hours or overnight in the fridge.

Is homemade bread healthier than store bought?

Making homemade bread at home is definitely better for you as it is not loaded with all the preservatives like the breads in the store. It’s also less expensive to make and only requires a few ingredients.

Ingredients

Makes 1 Loaf of Bread

3 cups Whole Wheat Flour
2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 cups milk
1 tbsp butter, melted

How to Make Homemade Whole Wheat Bread

Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.

In a medium bowl combine flour, baking soda, and salt and whisk until well combined.

In a small bowl combine milk and melted butter and mix until well combined. Slowly add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix using a wooden spoon.

Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and bake for 50-55 minutes.

Let cool for 10 minutes before removing from pan.

Cool completely before using a bread knife to slice and serve. Store wrapped or in a zip lock bag to keep fresh.
