    Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs

I’m seriously addicted to making hot chocolate bombs from my Disney Frozen hot chocolate bombs to keto hot cocoa bombs and now the Grinch hot cocoa bombs. I just can’t stop. But they are too cute to not stop and I have so many more ideas.

    Grinch Hot Chocolate Bombs recipe

We love watching The Grinch Who Stole Christmas with Jim Carrey during this time of year and been having fun creating other Grinch inspired food such as this Grinch Guacamole where he is the star of the party.

The rage all started when hot chocolate bombs appeared on TikTok and then they took off from there. Now you can see hot cocoa bomb recipes everywhere with your favorite characters but they all leave a fun surprise when they explode in the hot milk of hot cocoa and marshmallows. Some like to add other surprises in the middle of a hot cocoa bombs such as peppermint, a fun shaped marshmallow and more. They’re fun to watch and make!

    Hot Chocolate Bomb Tips

    • Don’t overcook the chocolate. Melt chocolate in microwave for 30 seconds at a time stirring in between until creamy and smooth.
    • Use a hot plate to seal the two chocolate spheres together to make a hot chocolate bomb. Reheat if necessary.
    • Smooth out any air bubbles in chocolate after placing it in silicone mold using the back of a spoon.
    • Make sure the chocolate it harden before proceeding to make the hot cocoa bombs.
    • If you don’t want any fingerprints on the chocolate bombs you can wear food safe gloves.
    • To get an easier control on the silicone molds making the chocolate come out easier, you can cut the silicone molds so that each sphere mold is by itself.
    • To store, keep them in an airtight container in fridge to avoid melting.

What You Need to Make Hot Cocoa Bombs

    Makes 8-10 Hot Cocoa Bombs

    2 Silicone Sphere molds
1 lb Dark Green candy melts
2 cups Mint Chocolate Hot Cocoa Powder
8-10 Nerdy Nummies Red Candy Hearts
    1 Disposable piping bag
1 Cookie sheet fitted with wax paper
    2 cup Mini Marshmallows
1 cup Bright Colorful Christmas Sprinkles

How to Make Grinch Hot Cocoa Bombs

Use a paper towel or clean kitchen towel and wipe the inside of the silicone molds. This will allow your chocolate mold to have a shiny coat on it.

Using a heat safe bowl, pour the dark green candy melts into the bowl and place in the microwave for 30 second intervals. Make sure to stir the candy melts after each 30 seconds until completely melted and smooth.

Using a spoon, spoon about 1-2 tbsp of the melted candy melts into the mold making sure to only fill the sides of the mold all the way to the top and keeping the inside hollow. Use the back of a spoon to guide the chocolate throughout the mold.

Place the coated molds into the fridge for 10-15 minutes.

Remove from the fridge and gently peel the silicone mold back away from the hardened chocolate. Carefully place the mold onto a cutting board. Repeat steps with remaining molds.

Scoop some of the melted candy melt into the piping bag and cut the tip.

    Build the Hot Cocoa Bomb

Scoop about 1-2 tbsp of the hot cocoa mix into the bottom of one sphere mold. Sprinkle in a pinch of the sprinkles and a few mini marshmallows on top of the hot cocoa mix.

Pipe a line of the melted candy melt around the edge of the bottom shell.

Carefully place the top shell onto the bottom and gently hold the top to the bottom for about 30 seconds to a minute to allow the piped candy melt to harden to the top shell.

Carefully pick up the bomb and make sure that there is no opening around the center of the shells.

Place the mold back onto the cutting board. Drizzle the candy melt over the bomb. Place a heart into the center and allow to harden for 10 minutes!

How to Use a Hot Cocoa Bomb

Watch your hot cocoa bomb explode right before your eyes with the magic touch. To use a hot cocoa bomb, carefully place in the bottom of a cup. Heat milk separately in microwave or on stovetop. Pour piping hot milk in cup over top of hot cocoa bomb and watch it open up. Stir and enjoy!
