The 50’s were great as it was a time from jukeboxes to poodle skirts. This was a decade where Rock N Roll made its debut so why not throw a 50’s themed party. My daughter’s birthday was coming up so we decided on a 50’s Rock N Roll themed party. It was a blast from the past with some of our guests. The decorations and supplies were affordable for anyone’s budget and easy to do.
Record Cupcake Tower & Record Birthday Cake
The cupcake tower was easy to make with doll rods, a glue gun, and old records from the thrift store. Feed the doll rod through the records one by one using a screw to secure the bottom one and a glue gun to seal them all into place. If you need to make it sturdier glue 2 records together for each tower.
Making a record birthday cake was created using a round cake pan and black frosting. Print the Free Happy Birthday Record Printable for the center of the record cake.
Photo Opp
You can’t have a 50’s themed party without a photo opportunity. Using supplies from Party Cheap and old records from the thrift store we created with checkered photo section. The cutout from Party Cheap can turn anyone into a greaser or waitress by flipping it over.
Accessories
Since candy was cheap in the 50’s using a candy jar adding some of your favorite candy from the 50’s or candy in general and stick a chalkboard label saying “Candy 5 cents”.
The plates, silverware, and cups were from the Dollar Store and the tablecloth I already had on hand. Music Notes give the party a more soda pop atmosphere along with the reusable peel n stick record from Party Cheap.
Using a Balloon Time helium tank I was able to blow up our own balloons with helium the day of the party. I purchased a few Birthday ones from the dollar store that were not blown up and blew them up the day of the party. It also came with 50 balloons so we had a great time using the tank blowing up balloons as it was so easy to use and we didn’t have to blow each one up individually.

And to top off the party was an iJuke we already had on hand from Crosley Radio. Just plug-in your iPod and listen to your favorite tunes.

Food
For food choices we choose a soda pop theme having hamburgers, hot dogs, and french fries. And of course we had to top it off with a DIY Sundae Bar where guests could create their own sundaes and toppings.
