After living in our home for over 15 years, it is time to do some updates. One update that was well needed was the blinds in our home. When we first moved in, we added faux wood blinds in each window and while they looked pretty for a while over time they became broken. Last year we updated our main floor with Cellular Shades and loved the look of them. It was time to update the ones in our bedrooms to have working blinds again and match the ones on the main floor.
While searching for Blackout Cellular Shades we came across Blinds.com where they offer a variety of window treatments for your home including honeycomb shades, cell shades and honeycomb blinds. Being that they are going to be in all the bedrooms we wanted something that will give us privacy while blocking out the light especially on those days we want to sleep in. The larger scale honeycomb cell also provides added insulation which is great for our weather when it in the negatives. The fabric of the shades are completely opaque, and made from durable polyester, and an occasional light vacuuming is all that’s needed to keep these window shades looking fresh and good on all window sizes.
These shades are offered with two unique light control options:
Trilight – 2 shades in 1, and features a transparent pleated shade fabric above the light filtering or room darkening fabric below. The pleat type and size will match your bottom fabric.
Tandem – adds a clutch controlled roller shade behind Roman Pleat Shade, allowing for a multitude of additional light control options. Choose from 3 opacity levels: Â a solar screen material, which will provide added UV protection while preserving your view, a light filtering fabric will provide privacy and translucence or the blackout fabric, which will darken your room.
Lift options include our standard corded option, cordless shades, which are safer for children, top down/bottom up in both corded and cordless versions, continuous cord loop, which is ideal for larger shades, and motorized shades.
All shades with a standard cordlock or Top Down/ Bottom Up will have painted coordinated rails.
All solid color shades with any specialty lift option will have matching fabric covered headrail and bottom rails.
All print fabric shades with any specialty lift option will have fabric covered headrail and painted coordinated bottom rail.
The Blackout Cellular Shades are available in a variety of colors to match your home decor. It was actually pretty easy to order the shades online at Blinds.com. We wanted to match the shades that were on our main floor and got several samples in the mail before we purchased. We examined each sample carefully by holding it up to our current shades, walls, and trim. We choose the color Hush White as it suited our neutral colors in our home. Then, we had to measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the inside of the window since we wanted an inside mount. After we gathered our measurements, color, and shades, we placed our order online and it was delivered within 2 weeks.
Installing the cellular shades was a breeze and literally took 2-3 minutes. All you need is a few simple tools and follow the installation instructions. See what a difference blinds can make in a room? The linen fabric shades display so beautifully in our windows that we don’t have to hang curtains anymore. Check out the video below on how easy it was to install.
