    This Strawberry Shortcake Trifle is a delicious and easy dessert to serve at your next gathering. It’s light and fluffy with just the right amount of sweetness!

    A strawberry shortcake trifle is a perfect summer time dessert. It’s easy to put together and the flavors are amazing. Plus, it can be made ahead of time and served when you want.

    What is a Trifle?

    A trifle is a dessert consisting of layered ingredients, like whipped cream, cake, fruit, and nuts, that are set in a bowl or pie crust. They’re typically easy to make and delicious.

    What You’ll Need to Make This Trifle

    • Angel Food Cake – can be homemade, store bought or box mix. If using a box mix you will also need ingredients listed on box.
    • Strawberries – fresh strawberries and sliced.
    • Whipped Topping – can make your own or use a large tub of cool whip.

    Variations of a Trifle

    • Try different fruits – raspberries, blackberries or blueberries would be delicious in a trifle.
    • Try different types of cakes – can also use pound cake or sponge cake.
    • Add pudding – add a layer of pudding in between layers for a more creamy cake. You can use flavors such as vanilla, lemon or even chocolate.
    • Add nuts – add a few tablespoons of chops after each cake layer for a bit of crunch.

    • Prep Strawberries – Rinse, hull and slice.
    • Prepare Whipped Topping – Make your own or thaw out a large tub of cool whip.
    • Layer the Trifle – Follow the steps below to layer your trifle.

    How to Layer a Trifle

    1. Layer the base of your trifle with cake.
    2. Add a layer of sliced strawberries, followed by a layer of whipped topping.
    3. Add a layer of cake, then sliced strawberries, followed by a heaping layer of whipped topping.
    4. Garnish with fresh strawberries.
    5. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

    How long can a trifle stay in the fridge?

    A trifle can stay in the fridge for up to 3 days. Make sure to cover it with plastic wrap.

    Can you use frozen strawberries in a trifle?

    Yes, you can use frozen strawberries in a trifle. Just make sure they are thawed out before layering.
