    Equipment Used

    • High-Speed Blender – a powerful blender that will crush ice.
    • Margarita Salt – to garnish around the rim of the glass.
    • Margarita Glasses – these margarita glasses are my favorite but you can use any kind of cocktail glass you’d prefer.

    Recipe Variations

    • Make a spicy watermelon margarita by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim and rolling in tajin plus add some jalapeno as a garnish.
    • Want a different flavor? Try different fruits or juice in place of watermelon.
    • Can use kosher salt in place of margarita salt.
    • Want it more slushy, add another cup of ice and blend together.
    • For a sweeter drink, coat the rim with simple syrup and roll in sugar.

How to Make a Frozen Watermelon Margarita

    1. Cut up watermelon and place in freezer for at least 4 hours.
    2. Add all ingredients to a blender except ingredients for garnish (salt, lime wedges and watermelon triangles).
    3. Blend on medium to high until smooth and slushy.

    Recipe Tips for Best Results

    • Use a seedless watermelon. The flavor will depend on the sweetness of the watermelon you choose. Use this how to pick a watermelon guide to help you find the best one.
    • Save time and purchase already sliced watermelon at the grocery store.
    • Prepare the night before by cutting up and freezing watermelon.
    • Chill the tequila in the fridge to keep your drink nice and cold.

    FAQs

What tequila should I use for margaritas?

The better the tequila the better the drink. Try to use a good quality tequila that says 100% agave. My favorite is Tequila Blanco or Tequila Silver. You could also use Reposado tequila.

Can I make a large batch for a party?

Yes, you can. Just multiply the ingredients based on the number of servings you need.

Are frozen margaritas stronger than on the rocks?

This would depend on how much alcohol you use in your margarita. Since frozen margaritas are blended with ice there is a dilution process. Some say that on the rocks is better because you can taste the alcohol more.

Can I make this a watermelon margarita on the rocks?

Absolutely! Skip the ice and mix margarita ingredients together in a blender and blend until watermelon is pureed. Pour over ice in a salted rim glass.
