These Buttered Egg Noodles are the perfect blend of butter and Parmesan cheese, making them a delicious comfort dish or a tasty side to complete any meal.

Ever since I was little, my grandma would always make me buttered noodles. Now, after much trial and error, I’ve finally perfected a buttered noodles with Parmesan recipe that brings back those cherished memories.
You might think this recipe is just butter and noodles, but my version has a little more magic to it. Made with love and a few extra ingredients, it’s the perfect blend of flavor and comfort.
We use egg noodles in this recipe, but feel free to swap them for your favorite type of pasta. And of course, you can adjust the ingredients to suit your taste.
Buttered noodles can be enjoyed as a meal on their own with a side salad and crusty bread, or served as a delicious side dish alongside a protein like pork chops, steak, or chicken.
If you’re craving another delicious noodle dish, give my creamy mac and cheese a try—it’s the perfect comforting meal!

Buttered Egg Noodles Ingredients
- Egg noodles: Can also use other kinds of noodles.
- Salt: Used for the boiling water.
- Butter: I use salted butter but you can also use unsalted butter.
- Parmesan cheese: freshly grated works best. You can also omit if you’d like.
- Pepper: To add some seasoning.
- Fresh parsley: This is optional but finely chopped sprinkled on top adds a nice garnish.
How to Make the Best Buttered Noodles
Bring a large pot of water to a boil and generously salt it.
Cook the noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve 1 cup of pasta water and set it aside.
Drain the noodles in a colander, then return the pot to the stove. Melt the butter over medium-low heat, then add the noodles back to the pot along with the reserved pasta water, grated Parmesan cheese, and pepper to taste.
Stir until well combined, then garnish with fresh parsley just before serving. Enjoy!
