                • Add caramel: Drizzle caramel sauce over the warm apple crisp before serving.
                • Add more fall spices: Add a pinch of ground cloves, allspice, or extra cinnamon for a warmer spice flavor.

                Recipe Tips

                • Slice the apples about the same thickness so they cook evenly.
                • Use apples that hold up well during cooking so they don’t turn completely mushy.
                • Don’t overcook the apple crisp. Check the apples toward the end of the cooking time and remove the lid once they’re tender.
                • For a crispier topping, place a clean kitchen towel or a few layers of paper towels underneath the crockpot lid during the last part of cooking to help absorb the excess moisture. Make sure the towel stays securely outside the crockpot and away from the heating element.
                • This dessert is best served warm right out of the crockpot with vanilla ice cream.

Do I have to peel the apples?

Yes, you do. Peeled apples give the best texture and make the apples soft and tender.

Can I make Crockpot Apple Crisp ahead of time?

Yes, you can prep and assemble it the night before and store it in the fridge. Then, cook it in the crockpot the next day.

Can I cook this on low?

Yes, you can cook on low for about 3-4 hours. Check the apples towards the end to make sure they don’t get too soft.
