- 6 apples; fuji, gala, or similar
- 2 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- ½ tsp. nutmeg
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ¾ cup old fashioned oats
- ¾ cup flour
- 8 tbsp. butter
Spray the inside of your crockpot with nonstick cooking spray.
Peel, core, and slice the apples.
Add the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a large mixing bowl. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Transfer the apple mixture to the crockpot and spread it into an even layer.
In a separate bowl, combine the brown sugar, old-fashioned oats, and flour.
Add the thinly sliced cold butter. Use a fork or pastry cutter to cut the butter into the oat mixture until no large pieces of butter remain and the mixture is crumbly.
Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
Cover and cook on HIGH for about 2 hours, or until the apples are tender and the topping is cooked through.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and enjoy!
Recipe Tips
- Slice the apples about the same thickness so they cook evenly.
- Use apples that hold up well during cooking so they don't turn completely mushy.
- Don't overcook the apple crisp. Check the apples toward the end of the cooking time and remove the lid once they're tender.
- For a crispier topping, place a clean kitchen towel or a few layers of paper towels underneath the crockpot lid during the last part of cooking to help absorb the excess moisture. Make sure the towel stays securely outside the crockpot and away from the heating element.
- This dessert is best served warm right out of the crockpot with vanilla ice cream.
How to Store Leftovers
- Allow leftovers to cool completely and transfer to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- Reheat individual servings in the microwave until warm.
