Going back to school can sometimes be a challenge especially after being in summer mode. Trying to get prepared for that first day may not seem as easy as it sounds. I find that making Bento lunches ahead of time is great to just grab and go in the morning especially if we are running late. They don’t take long at all to make, they are super fun and kids love them. Here are a few Back to School Bento Lunch Ideas to help you get creative in making those lunches.
To get started, I stop by my local Giant Eagle store to stock up on all the essentials I need to create the Bento lunches. They are THE BEST place to find everything you need and get your family Back to School ready!
Supplies Needed to Create these Bento Lunches:
- Capri Sun
- Schwebels Bread
- Oreos and Multipacks
- Goldfish Crackers
- JIF Peanut Butter
- Smuckers Fruit Spread
- Nature’s Basket Fruit and Grain Bars
- Cookie Cutters
- Food Markers
Fish Bento Lunchbox Directions
- Spread a layer of peanut butter inside the main compartment and a few goldfish on top.
- Make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and use a whale or any type of fish cookie cutter to cut the shape out of the sandwich.
- Place the cut sandwich above the goldfish.
- Add snacks in the side compartments such as mini oreos, fruit and grain bars or any other type of food item.
- Complete with a Capri Sun drink.
Caterpillar on a Log Bento Lunchbox Directions
- Add a fruit and grain bar to the main compartment.
- Make 3-4 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (depending of size of shape cutter) and use a circle cookie cutter or the open mouth of a small glass to cut the shape out of the sandwich.
- Place the circles in a row creating a caterpillar. (you can add a layer of peanut butter in between to make it stick together)
- Using a food marker make 2 eyes.
- To make the antenna’s, use the crust of the bread and break off 2 small pieces and roll to form an antenna.
- Add a dab of peanut butter to each antenna and stick on the face of the caterpillar.
- Place the caterpillar on top of the log/fruit and grain bar.
- Add snacks in the side compartments such as mini oreos, goldfish or any other type of food item.
- Complete with a Capri Sun drink.
Going to Giant Eagle is the easiest and most convenient option, with the greatest variety of products to find items for a packed lunch. I love that I was able to find everything I needed in a one-stop shop for all back to school needs and didn’t have to go from store to store. In addition to lunches it’ also a great place to stock up on breakfast food and after school snacks for the kids.
