Learn how to make every Christmas movie night feel like a magical family tradition!
Every holiday season I get the urge to transform our living room into the ultimate cozy Christmas movie haven. I’m talking warm fuzzy blankets, twinkling lights and the whole family piled on the couch watching our favorite holiday movies.
Today, I’m sharing how I did it so you can create your own dreamy Christmas movie night at home. Huge thanks to Lovesac for partnering with me on this post.
Seating
If you’re planning hours-long binge of Elf, Home Alone, and The Santa Clause (in that order, obviously), comfort is a must.
Sactionals from Lovesac is the star of this setup. If you’ve never sat on one, it’s like the cozy version of LEGOs.
Every piece can be rearranged or swapped out depending on what you need. For family movie night, that flexibility is everything.
We added in:
- Reclining Seats: With the push of a button, these wall hugging recliners can be positioned anywhere and shift from standard to deep seating.
- Storage Seats: For hiding blankets and other items I don’t want in site.
- Lovesoft Fill: We chose this option for the most comfort but you can customize it to how soft or firm you like your cushions.
- Sationals Drink Holder + Tray: Both of these are a must. Because what is Christmas movie night without the snacks, popcorn and hot cocoa?
- StealthTech Sound + Charge System: This is where the magic happens. Immersive 4D sound that wraps around the room without visible speakers and cords. Add in the Satellite Subwoofer and you can feel the soundtrack of Home Alone in your body but in a good way.
It all blends into the couch so the room looks clean and uncluttered and the sound is honestly better than any other setup we’ve ever had.
Cozy Holiday Decor
Once the sofa was set into place, it was time for the fun part of decorating. You don’t have to overfill your living room, just a few simple touches will make it feel festive instantly.
Some things to add are:
- Soft Throw Blankets: Lola blankets are my absolute favorite and go together with Lovesac hand in hand. They have their holiday collection out now with shades of burgundy and green.
- A Mixture of Pillows: The more pillows the better (in my opinion).
- Twinkling String Lights: Added to a garland behind the couch or around it.
- A Glowing Christmas Tree: The minute the tree lights come on, the whole room just feels cozy. The mix of soft browns, wood, metallics and blush tones plus the velvet bows makes the whole room elegant without being too over the top.
- Candles or Diffuser with Holiday Scents: Complete with the scent of Christmas with scents of pine, evergreen or spiced cranberry to fill the whole room.
Set Up the Perfect Movie Night
Here’s how we made the night extra special:
- Arranged the Sactionals into an almost “U” shape so everyone had a comfy spot.
- Pre-loaded a movie playlist to avoid endless scrolling.
- Set out snacks and popcorn on the Sactionals tray.
- Served hot cocoa in Christmas mugs and placed on Sactionals coasters so nobody has to worry about spills. And even if it does happens, the covers are machine washable.
- Dimmed the lights to get the glow from the tree and garland.
