Ingredients

Jello Ingredients

  • 1 3 oz box grape jello
  • 2 cups boiling water divided
  • 1 cup grape vodka
  • 1 cup cold water. divided
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 0.25 oz packages unflavored gelatin
  • Black gel food coloring
  • Measuring cup with spout or large syringe

Blood Splatter Icing Ingredients

  • 1 large egg white
  • ¼ teaspoon cream of tarter
  • 1 ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • Super red gel food coloring
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

Make and Layer Jello

  • In a bowl, whisk grape jello and 1 cup boil water until jello has fully dissolved.
  • Add in ½ cup cold water and ½ cup grape vodka and whisk together.
  • Whisk in about 4 drops of black food coloring. Add more if needed.
  • Place jello shot cups on a large cookie sheet.
  • Using a syringe fill shot cups with black colored jello about ¼ full. Put in fridge for about 30 minutes or until jello is set.
  • In a bowl, add ½ cup cold water and 2 unflavored gelatin packages. Allow to sit for 5 minutes. Whisk in 1 cup boiling water until gelatin is fully dissolved.
  • Whisk in sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup grape vodka. Allow to cool slightly.
  • Using a syringe fill shot cups with 0.25 ounce white colored jello on top of black layer. Place in fridge for 30 minutes or until set.
  • Repeat the steps again for another layer of black jello and white jello allowing it to set in the fridge in between layers. For the last white layer, leave in fridge overnight.

  • Blood Splatter Topping
  • Using a standing mixer, beat egg white, cream of tartar, powdered sugar, and vanilla until combined and holds a soft peak, about 5 - 7 minutes. If too runny, beat in another ½ cup powdered sugar.
  • Mix in 5-7 drops or more if needed of super red food coloring till it looks dark as blood.
  • Beat in about 2 tablespoons of water to ‘thin’ the icing out and falls off a spoon like lava.
  • For this messy part, cover the area with trash bags. Dip a fork into red icing and fling at the jello shots to create a blood splatter look. Be creative with your blood splatter!
  • Once your shots are covered in blood, allow icing to dry, place them on a serving platter and enjoy!

Notes

Recipe Tips

  • Can make these up in advance but leave off the topping until the day of serving.
  • Shorten the amount of time with less jello layers. Could do thicker layers instead for a different look.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge covered for up to 3 days.
