Slice about 10 slices into the bread but do not cut all the way through the bread!
Place the bread on a lined baking tray. Fold a slice of cheese in half and place into each slit in the bread. Add 2 slices of roast beef into each slice in the bread.
If you want to add onion, spoon some of the caramelized onion into each slice in the bread.
Combine the softened butter with the garlic powder and dried parsley into a bowl.
Brush the loaf with the butter mixture and bake for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Mix together consommé with a can of water and warm up in the microwave or stovetop.
Serve the bread with the consommé for dipping.
