- 8 oz. macaroni
- 1 tsp butter
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground mustard
- 1 egg beaten
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp hot water
- Breadcrumbs 0ptional
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Bring water to a boil, add macaroni and cook per package directions. Drain and return back to pot. Stir in butter and beaten egg.
Mix salt and mustard in 1 tablespoon hot water and add to milk. Add cheese, reserving enough to sprinkle on top.
Pour the macaroni mixture into a buttered casserole dish. Add the milk mixture and sprinkle with reserved cheese and breadcrumb topping. Bake uncovered for about 30 minutes or until the top bubbly and golden brown. Serve immediately!
- Add more cheese or different variations of cheese if you want it cheesier.
- Can use a block of cheddar cheese and grate it with a grater.
- Don't overbake! Over baking will make the mac and cheese dry so be sure to take it out once it's bubbling, hot and browned.
- Store any remaining leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
