- 1 pound thick sliced bacon cut into 1 inch pieces
- 1 large yellow onion diced
- 1 cup brown sugar
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¼ cup maple syrup
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper optional
In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove the bacon from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towel.
Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook in the bacon fat until softened, about 5 minutes.
