- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups all purpose flour plus 2 tablespoons if not adding nuts
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 1 12 ounce bag Nestle chocolate chips
- Optional: 1 cup walnuts chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
In a bowl, mix together flour, salt, baking soda and set aside.
In separate large bowl, cream together with a mixer the butter, white sugar, vanilla and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time after each addition and until light and creamy. Slowly mix in the flour, baking soda, and salt mixture until fully combined.
Stir in the chocolate chips and if you are adding nuts. Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Drop by large spoonfuls onto prepared cookie sheets.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges are lightly toasted. Cool on baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Tips for Making the Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookies
- Don’t over bake! Over baking by leaving them in the oven too long, or at too high of a temperature can lead to browning/burning on the bottom before they are done inside.
- If you are not a fan of nuts, you can leave the walnuts out of the recipe. Just make sure to add 2 extra tablespoons of all purpose flour if you do leave them out.
- Make sure to chill the dough for best results.
- Measure the flour accurately. Use a knife to level it off to make sure you get exact measurements.
