Ingredients

  • 1 box devil's food cake mix
  • 1 3.3oz package chocolate pudding mix
  • ¾ cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup light sour cream
  • 1 cup water
  • 4 eggs

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix together by hand with a large spoon or whisk.
  • Lightly grease a 4-6 quart slow cooker. Pour batter into slow cooker.
  • Cover and cook on low heat for about 2-3.5 hours (check on it at the 1 hour mark) or until toothpick comes clean when inserted in the middle.
  • Serve warm, topped with your favorite frosting, whipped cream or ice cream!

Notes

  • Make sure to mix by hand and not a mixer for best results.
  • Do not cook on high! Cook on low only to avoid burning the cake.
  • Time to cook will vary depending on what size slow cooker you use.
  • Be careful not to overfill the slow cooker. The cake batter should only fill it about half way up the sides of the pot.
  • Cover the slow cooker with a lid during cooking. This will help trap in heat and moisture, ensuring a moist and delicious cake.
