Ingredients

  • 1 large box of red based Jello I used Raspberry Jello
  • 1 tub of Cool Whip thawed
  • 2 cups boiling hot water
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Cooking spray
  • Plastic brain mold

Instructions

  • Add 2 cups of water to a microwave safe bowl and microwave on high for about 2-3 minutes or until boiling.
  • Pour the whole package of Jello into the bowl of boiling hot water and stir till dissolved.
  • Add 2 cups of cold water to bowl and mix together.
  • Add the entire container of thawed Cool Whip to the bowl and mix together until there are no more chunks.
  • Place the plastic brain mold into a large bowl to keep it from shifting around.
  • Lightly spray the plastic brain mold with cooking spray.
  • Pour the Jello mixture in the mold and place in the fridge overnight. In you are in a time crunch 4-6 hours might be enough time to set up. Double check to be sure.
  • To remove Jello Brain from mold, shake gently and tilt all around slightly to loosen from mold. Place a platter or tray over top of the mold and flip the mold and platter/tray at the same time. The Jello should slide out easily and onto the platter/tray and lift off the mold.
  • Serve alone or with edible Jello worms, gummy worms, eyeballs or anything else you want to put on it.

Notes

Tips for Making Jello Brain

  • If you don't have one large box of Jello, you can use 2 small boxes of Jello. Just make sure they are the same flavor.
  • Want to make for adults? Add vodka in place of cold water.
  • If you want a firmer Jello brain, use less water or add two packages of unflavored gelatin.
  • To make the Jello more creamier use a ½ - 1 whole can of fat-free evaporated milk along with 2 ½ cups boiling water and 1 cup cold water.

What Color Jello Works Best?

  • Light Red Color: use a red based Jello such as raspberry, strawberry or cherry plus water and Cool Whip.
  • Dark Red Color: use peach or watermelon flavored Jello mixed with fat-free evaporated milk plus water. (see above)
  • Gray Color: use peach or watermelon flavored Jello with fat-free evaporated milk plus water (see above) and 15 drops each of red, green and blue food coloring.
  • Pink/Opaque Color: use peach flavored Jello with fat-free evaporated milk plus water (see above) and a few drops of red and green food coloring.
