Mug Cake Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg yolk only
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • ¼ cup flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon sprinkles + extra for garnish

  • 2 tablespoons butter room temperature
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1-2 teaspoons milk
  • teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

How to Make Funfetti Mug Cake in the Microwave

  • Add 2 tablespoons of butter to the bottom of a microwave safe mug and melt in microwave.
  • Add milk, vanilla extract, egg yolk and sugar to mug with melted butter. Use a fork to whisk ingredients until incorporated. Add flour, baking powder and pinch of salt to the mug. Whisk again to combine. Stir sprinkles into the mixture.
  • Microwave for 90 seconds on 70% or medium-high power. Allow to cool while preparing frosting.

How to Make Mug Cake Frosting

  • To prepare frosting, use a fork or an electric mixer to beat butter and powdered sugar in a bowl until creamy. Add in milk, vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Beat again until combined.
  • Add additional milk if necessary until desired consistency is reached.
  • Spread or pipe frosting onto cooled mug cake. Add additional sprinkles if desired and enjoy!
