- Spackling paste 300 ml or 10oz
- White sand 300 ml or 10 oz
- Tan acrylic paint 35 ml or 1 oz
- 11.8 cm circle mirror
- Spatula
- An egg or round marble
- Cotton balls or sponge
- Mirror hanging hardware
Mix the spackling paste, the white sand, and the acrylic paint into a bowl and mix it until it blends well and becomes a paste.
Outline the moon on the left side of the mirror. With the spatula, spread the paste over the moon. You don’t have to be too careful here - remember the moon is super texturized, and you want the spackle to look perfectly imperfect.
Dip an egg (or anything round-shaped) into the spackle to create a crater. Use your finger to add texture to it.
With a cotton ball or sponge, stipple over the shape of the moon to add texture to it. Make sure to get the edges as well to create a blended look! Dry it overnight and hang up the next day!
- This is a quick DIY and takes about 15-20 minutes in total to go through the process.
- Spackling paste can be found in hardware stores.
- I used an egg to create the crater because it’s something everyone has available, but really anything round like a marble or ball will do the trick!
- I used a 12" circular mirror, but you can use any size circular mirror you'd like. A variety of sizes look great collaged together! Feel free to get creative!
