- 12 tbsp butter
- ½ cup cocoa
- 1 14oz. can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 3 tbsp amaretto or rum
- Extra cocoa for rolling the truffles in
To make chocolate truffles, start by heating the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add in the cocoa and stir until smooth. Add in condensed milk and stir constantly until thick, smooth, and glossy about 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and Amaretto or rum.
Next, transfer the mixture to a bowl and place it in the fridge to set for 3-4 hours. Once it's firm, use a small spoon or melon baller to scoop out small balls of the chocolate mixture and roll them between your palms to shape them into 1 inch balls.
Roll the truffles in cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or sprinkles to give them a little extra flavor and texture. Then place them on a sheet of wax paper and pop them in the fridge for about 1-2 hours to firm up again. Store in airtight container in fridge until ready to serve.
