My story is about to get personal but I need to share why Toy Story is so dear to my heart. I’m sad this will be the final chapter of the story but excited when Toy Story 4 hits theaters on June 21st. There are several new characters that you have not met yet voiced by a great cast.
It all started when my oldest son was born and the very first Toy Story came out. When I showed him the movie Toy Story for the first time, he feel in love, smiled and laughed and continued to do so every time he watched it.
From then on Toy Story became part of our family as the rest of my kids grew up with each Toy Story that came out after that. Plus, Disney has been in my life for quite some time as I’ve visited Pixar Studios along with Disney World and Disneyland multiple times hanging with the crew from Toy Story. Over the years Toy Story has grown closer to my heart for several reasons including ones that are close to me.
We would often visit my father-in-law’s house and his wife, Kathy always had little figurines and toys around the house. She had this little Woody doll from Toy Story that would sit on the phone. Every time we stopped by my son wanted to play with it and take it home. She would let him play with it but never allowed him to take it home.
One random day we went over to my father’s and law’s house again and my son asked again if he could play with and take Woody home and she finally said yes. My son loved the Woody Doll so much and took it with him everywhere.
A few months later after she gave him that toy, we got a phone call that she passed away. This was devastating news because she was special to us. Fifteen years later we still have that Woody doll that sits on the shelf in my bedroom (see pic below) to remind of Kathy everyday.
(The smallest Woody doll on the end is the one that was given to my son.)
I can’t wait to take my family to see Toy Story 4 in theaters this summer. Tears of sadness and joy will stream down our face and memories will come alive. Check out the trailers below and take the family to see the movie in theaters on June 21st.
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
