We definitely needed a Toy Story 4 to finish telling the story. Or did it? So many of us grew up on all of the movies along with our kids. My 19 year old son and I saw the movie screening of Toy Story 4 in theaters this week. There were moments that I looked at him and saw that little kid again rather than a teenager. Here are our thoughts on the movie from both perspectives. Make sure you bring some tissues cause you’re going to need them.
Toy Story 4 Movie Review
Bo Peep is Back
After so many years, Bo Peep is finally back. The chemistry between her and Woody is great so I’m glad she’s back but she is not the same person. She’s been without a kid and on her own for 7 years so her outlook on life is different. I’m not sure if I like the new Bo Peep or not. There were some things I did not agree with and others that I was like yeah she’s right.
Forky – The Most Lovable Character
Forky is a new character in the film that no one even knew what he was like and became popular before the movie hit theaters. He is a character that you will love so much. He may not be the smartest but you have to remember he was just made so he is still a child and showing how he learning through a child’s eyes.
I think everyone is personally connected to the film someway or somehow as we all grew up on the movies. If you are not, you will when you leave the theater. Take a look at your kids when they are watching the film and see how they react. It’s a great way to see how they connect.
Ventriloquist Dummies May be Scary for Young Kids
There are some moments where there are 3 ventriloquist dummies in the movie that might be scary to young kids. I was a little terrified of them myself. They turn their head all the way around and their faces are just frightening.
Our Thoughts on the Movie
My 19 year old son thought the movie was played safe and said he could figure out what was going to happen as soon as Gabby Gabby was introduced. I have to agree and disagree with him. Yes, I agree that you could figure out what was going to happen but thought it was still a good movie. But feel I like this is not the end. Even if all the characters don’t come back, I’m thinking there may be a Toy Story 5. At least that is what I’m hoping for.
Toy Story 4 is in theaters now so be sure to take the entire family to see it!
About Toy Story 4
Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy. Directed by Josh Cooley (“Riley’s First Date?”) and produced by Jonas Rivera (“Inside Out,” “Up”) and Mark Nielsen (associate producer “Inside Out”), Disney•Pixar’s “Toy Story 4” ventures to U.S. theaters on June 21, 2019.
