Tips to Jump Start Your Holiday Shopping

Disclosure: I am a member of the Sears Squad and was compensated for this post. All opinions are 100% my own.

I am one that starts holiday shopping early and gets done before Thanksgiving. I know you probably all hate me right now but it works for me as I don’t like to be stressed out during the holiday season going from store to store in crowds. Remember that saying, “The early bird gets the worm”?  That is one true saying especially if you get a jump-start on your holiday shopping and not be last-minute when everything is gone. If you don’t start your shopping early now is the time to do so. Trust me you will be able to enjoy the holiday season more and worry less.

Sears has the right idea about helping you get started early with their Member Bonus Event on Sunday, October 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. And if any item purchased goes lower in the same store between October 16 and December 24, Sears will automatically credit you the difference back in points, up to a maximum of $100 in points per member and awarded on 1/16/17. That includes Black Friday doorbuster pricing! So if that doesn’t give you a reason to jump-start your holiday shopping, check out these tips.

Tips to Jump Start Your Holiday Shopping

Get the List Early
Ask everyone you buy for to make a list of what they want as soon as possible. The sooner the better as this will give you time to break it down and create your own list before you shop. You can then go down the list and mark each person off as you go.

Study the Sales
Compare prices and sales ads before you shop as weekly prices tend to change. Black Friday and Cyber Monday may not always have the best deals as sometimes the early sales are better. You can view the sales ads and prices at before you leave the house.

Break into the Christmas Fund
Remember my breakdown on How to Start a Christmas Fund? Now is the time to withdraw that money and get your holiday shopping done without the debt. If you don’t have a Christmas fund started you can always start one now for next year and just set a budget for this year.

Plan Ahead
Pick a day preferably one that is not busy and plan on which stores you are going to and what you are getting at each store. This will save you from spending too much time in one store trying to find out what you need to purchase. Shop earlier than later to get the items you want and be able to relax in the end. Don’t forget the Sears Member Bonus Event on Sunday, October 16 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to get your holiday shopping started.
