Waking up early in the morning can be hard, especially if you’re not a morning person. It can make the rest of the day drag because of how tired you feel. Trust me, I know how you it can feel as I used to be a night owl person now turned into an early riser. I’m sharing a few ways to help make getting out of bed more enjoyable and rewarding for you.
Tips for Waking Up Early
Prepare for the change
If you’re not a morning person, don’t try to be one in one night sleep. You will hate the person you become while trying to get up significantly earlier than you usually do.
Instead of trying to get up one to two hours before normal, start with just a half hour. When your body starts getting use to it, move it to an hour and so on. This lifestyle change needs to be done gradually, so you don’t give up on day two.
Brush & floss your teeth
No one wants morning breath so brush and floss your teeth first thing when you wake up. The Waterpik® Sonic-Fusion® flossing toothbrush is a 2 in 1 device where it does the flossing and brushing of your teeth with a simple press of a button.
A device that is 2x as effective as regular brushing and flossing and removes up to 99.9% of plaque makes getting up each morning more fun. To use fill the reservoir with warm water, select one of the three modes (brush, floss, brush + floss) and let the device do the work. If you are flossing make sure the brush head is in your mouth before turning the product on.
You can find the Waterpik® Sonic-Fusion® flossing toothbrush in the toothbrush aisle at Walmart. Learn more about the Waterpik Sonic-Fusion flossing toothbrush and how to receive a $30 mail in rebate through June 30th visit their website.
Move the alarm clock far from your bed
I know this one is hard but if you’re alarm clock is close by, it’s tempting to hit snooze for an hour. As soon as that alarm clock goes off, get up, go and turn it off, and don’t get back into bed.
Don’t hit snooze
Most people are guilty of this. The bed is so warm and cozy, and your eyelids are heavy. Hitting snooze is so easy you can do it in your sleep. How much sleep do you honestly think you are getting by doing this though? Not much, honestly.
No screen time in bed
If you want to get a good night sleep and feel rested in those early morning hours, don’t bring your phone, iPad, or any screen device to bed with you. That bright screen will alert you brain to process more information, when it should be winding down for a restful sleep.
Avoid social media in the morning
Reading social media first thing in the morning gets you riled up about other people’s problems, before the sun has even come up. Focus on preparing your mind for your busy day, not theirs too.
When you wake up late in the morning, it stresses you out, and makes the small annoyances a big deal. Don’t do this. Waking up earlier allows you to move slower, so the morning is more relaxed and not so stressful.
Enjoy the sunrise
Enjoying the sunrise is a great reward for getting up early. Another great day is beginning, and the sun and you are both starting out your big days. Sitting down on a porch swing drinking coffee, with your spouse is a warm enjoyable moment you probably don’t do to often.
Do something you enjoy
Everyone has something they enjoy doing that’s rewarding when kids aren’t driving them bonkers. The early morning is the perfect time for exercising, reading books, meditating, or any other activities you may enjoy doing. It will get your blood flowing, energizing you, and your brain unfogged. It also feels good to get something accomplished before the day can go downhill quickly.
These are a number of tips for helping you roll out of bed easier. Which ones will you try? What other methods do you use to get out of bed earlier?
