The day is finally here where I can share my thoughts about the new movie Spies in Disguise coming to theaters this Christmas. I saw it a month ago when I was in California for a retreat/press event and I’ve been dying to share my review.
Spies in Disguise Movie Review
“The World Needs More Weird.”
First off the cast is amazing and includes Will Smith, Tom Holland, Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, Rashida Jones, DJ Khaled, Masi Oka. The animation took a lot of work with so many details to put in place such as the style of the film using certain shapes, rhythm using music, design of what the characters would look like and more.
“It’s not only the spy aspect, but the educational aspect for the kids and the very inspirational, motivational.” says one producer. The producers talked about how his mom used to do biomedical science so that is what gave him a lot of ideas to incorporate in the film such as changing Will Smith’s character to a pigeon. Science, weirdness, and crazy ideas became a big part of this film.
My Thoughts on Spies in Disguise Movie
I really liked this movie and think it has a great message for kids showing them that it’s okay to be different as my favorite line from the movie is “The world needs more weird.”. Tom Holland and Will Smith have a great relationship in the film and seemed to work together well. They are both downright funny and when you see this as a family you will all find humor in it. The story line is also good and a first spy movies for some kids.
Is Spies in Disguise Okay for Kids?
Yes, I think kids of all ages will love this movie. I didn’t see anything bad in the film that would prevent them from seeing it. There was no bad language or anything too violent or dark for them to see. It’s a great movie the whole family can see together this Christmas. Check out the trailer below.
