These two down to earth guys became emotional about Phineas and Ferb ending. While they love what they do they felt it was a good time to end it since it has been a decade in the making and wanted to let it go before it started getting tired.
Dan says that the show was inspired from their childhood as they were both creative kids with creative parents allowing them to do ridiculous things such as, Dan jumping 31 pinecones on his banana seat bike or taking sticks and flashlights crawling through drain pipes throughout his subdivision.
Proud Moment
I can’t tell you how much I will miss this show as I have watched it from the very beginning with all 3 of my kids. My youngest gets creative after each episode and I thank Dan and Jeff for bringing imagination back with kids. During the interview they talk about how many letters they have received where parents say their show has helped their kids get through dark times, chemo, art class, etc. You start to see Dan and Jeff get choked up about this because of the effect of Phineas and Ferb has given their fans.
During this interview the one part that stood out to me was when a blogger asked, “What do you feel the fans will get out of this show?”. Jeff “Swampy” Marsh replies with, “You can never go wrong with over estimated the intelligence of kids.” He then says, “You can create cool shows for all ages without being mean, add big words with jazz, folk, rock, and rap music and kids will get it.”
While it may not be true that all kids get 104 days of summer vacation, they found it fit well in the song and there are 104 days of summer.
The Character that Surprised them the Most
Stacy, Candace’s best friend in the show surprise Dan and Swampy the most. Stacy started out as an instigator to Candace but they realized that Stacy turned into more of a voice of reason and logic.
What’s Next for Dan & Swampy?
While Phineas and Ferb may be ending, it is not the end for Dan & Swampy. They are working on a new show for Disney called Mikey Murphy’s Law. The show will premiere in 2017 and is about the great-great-great-great grandson of the Murphy’s Law namesake.
The “Last Day of Summer,” episode will premiere June 12th (9:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney XD, so be sure to watch it to see what Phineas and Ferb are going to be up to.

June 12, 2015 at 1:16 pmI absolutely love that their goal is/was to treat kids like intelligent and capable little humans. They’ve paved the way for so many other great ideas and I’m so glad we’ll be seeing more of their work in the future!
